HR teams don’t need another vanity dashboard, they need a true onboarding cohort health score that ties training, time-to-productivity (TTP), quiz pass rate, policy attestation, manager 1:1 adherence, ticket deflection, new-hire eNPS, and early attrition risk to outcomes.
This interactive onboarding calculator gives People Ops and L&D leaders an instant, benchmarked HR onboarding analytics view across completion rates, comprehension, knowledge retention (rewatch rate), self-serve deflection, and ramp savings. Use it to spot compliance gaps, forecast the cost of slow ramp, and prioritize interventions that actually move the needle like turning static SOPs into interactive explainers with quizzes and attestations.
When you’re ready to operationalize the fix, Docustream converts long policies and PDFs into searchable journeys with built-in quizzes, attestations, and analytics—so new hires get answers faster and managers see progress in real time. Explore it now!
How to Use the Calculator (with Example)
1) Add your cohort basics
-
Cohort size: total new hires (e.g., 25).
-
Avg daily salary ($): average blended daily cost per hire (e.g., 400).
This powers the ramp savings estimate when you reduce TTP.
2) Enter core onboarding metrics
Use your LMS, HRIS, survey tool, or help desk to fill in:
-
Training completion rate (%) – finished all required modules (e.g., 82).
-
Quiz pass rate (%) – passed required assessments (e.g., 76).
-
Time-to-productivity (days) – days to reach target output for the role (e.g., 36).
-
Repetitive questions per hire (first 30d) – tickets or common Qs per new hire (e.g., 5).
-
Rewatch rate of key explainers (%) – proxy for retention/clarity (e.g., 35).
-
Manager 1:1 adherence (% weeks on-plan) – cadence followed as planned (e.g., 70).
-
Policy attestation completion (%) – critical compliance docs signed (e.g., 92).
-
New-hire eNPS (-100 to 100) – sentiment from onboarding survey (e.g., 18).
-
Ticket deflection by self-serve (%) – answers found without a ticket (e.g., 40).
-
Early attrition risk (% ≤90d) – percent likely to churn in first 90 days (e.g., 7).
3) (Optional) Tune weights
Open Advanced to align the model with your reality (e.g., give more weight to TTP for Sales roles or to Attestation for regulated industries). Weights must sum to 100.
4) Calculate
Click Calculate Cohort Health. You’ll get:
-
Cohort Health Score (0–100) with a color-coded donut.
-
Top risk driver (the lowest-scoring factor).
-
Estimated ramp savings (if you shorten TTP to the target).
-
A detailed factor breakdown (input, weight, normalized score, impact).
-
Plain-English recommendations you can act on.
Worked Example (using the numbers above)
-
Cohort size 25, avg daily salary $400
-
Completion 82%, Quiz pass 76%, TTP 36 days, Repetitive Qs 5/hire, Rewatch 35%, 1:1 adherence 70%, Attestation 92%, eNPS 18, Deflection 40%, Early attrition 7%.
Result: a Cohort Health Score in the low-80s (around 83) with ~$60,000 in potential ramp savings if you hit target TTP. The tool flags top risks (e.g., repetitive questions, policy gaps, low new-hire sentiment) and recommends fixes.
